Building Norms-Adaptable Agents from Potential Norms Detection Technique (PNDT)
This paper presents a contribution to research on norms detection by proposing a technique, which is called the Potential Norms Detection Technique (PNDT). The literature proposes that an agent changes or updates its norms based on the variables of the local environment and the amount of thinking about its behaviour. Consequently, any changes on these two variables cause the agent to use the PN...
متن کاملCorrespondence between probabilistic norms and fuzzy norms
In this paper, the connection between Menger probabilistic norms and H"{o}hle probabilistic norms is discussed. In addition, the correspondence between probabilistic norms and Wu-Fang fuzzy (semi-) norms is established. It is shown that a probabilistic norm (with triangular norm $min$) can generate a Wu-Fang fuzzy semi-norm and conversely, a Wu-Fang fuzzy norm can generate a probabilistic norm.
متن کاملModelling Norms for Autonomous Agents
Societies are regulated by norms and, consequently, autonomous agents that want to be part of them must be able to reason about norms. However, no reasoning can be done if agents lack a model of norms that allows them to know how by complying with norms some of their goals might be affected. In this paper, a general model of norms is proposed. By contrast with current models of norms, our model...
متن کاملAgents, Norms and Forest Cleaning
The automation of forest cleaning presupposes principles for choosing those trees that ought to be taken away and those that shall be left standing. In this paper, which is a report on a work in progress, the question is raised whether those principles can be structured as a combination of a normative system and a utility function. Of special interest is the possibility that the agent system ca...
متن کاملAutonomous Agents and Social Norms
In this paper we present concepts and their relations that are necessary for mod-eling autonomous agents in an environment that is governed by some (social) norms. We divide the norms over three levels: the private level the contract level and the convention level. We show how deontic logic can be used to model the concepts and how the theory of speech acts can be used to model the generation o...
